Convert HEIC to JPG without uploading it
When Windows, email, or an older app chokes on HEIC, open Convert HEIC to JPG. Decode and encode run in the browser. The photo file is not uploaded.
Why photos are HEIC
Many iPhones save HEIC by default so the camera roll holds more. Then a Windows laptop, an email form, or an older app asks for JPG.
That is the job this page is built for. One decode from HEIC or HEIF, then one JPG encode at the quality you pick. There is no silent bake before you choose.
Decoder download is not a photo upload
Upload converters treat the camera roll as a server job, then ask you to trust a later delete. NixRey keeps the photo on the device.
On a first visit the page may download a HEIC decoder so this browser can read the file locally. That download is app code (bundled WASM / runtime), not your photo leaving the device. It is not a cloud AI model. Decode once, then encode. The photo bytes stay local.
Press F12 and open the network panel if you want to see the difference. You may see the decoder on a first visit. Your HEIC file is not in that list as an upload.
What this page does
Convert HEIC to JPG accepts HEIC and HEIF only. Other formats are skipped with a clear message. Output stays locked to JPG.
Quality pills are High, Medium, or Low, with an estimated size before you convert. Add one photo or a batch. Leave the ones you want checked. Press Convert to JPG. Download under Preview, or use Download All (ZIP) for a batch. The archive may be named `heic-to-jpg.zip`.
About 20 files or about 25 MB each is a soft tip, not a hard cap.
One encode, quality you pick
JPG is lossy. Converting re-encodes the photo, so some detail can soften. High keeps more detail. Low makes a smaller file. Estimated size updates before you convert, so you can pick before you commit.
There is no silent pre-bake at a fixed quality before the pills. You choose High, Medium, or Low yourself. That is the “no silent bake” line on the live page.
Paste honesty
Paste works when the clipboard holds a real HEIC or HEIF file (Ctrl V / ⌘ V). Many phones paste a PNG or JPEG instead. If paste fails, drop the HEIC file or choose it from disk. Do not expect every phone clipboard to carry HEIC.
EXIF and GPS
The JPG is a fresh encode. Camera EXIF and GPS are not copied into the file. Use Remove EXIF Data when you want a deliberate strip. That tool also stays on your device.
Before and after
For mixed formats or other outs, open Convert Image. To shrink the new JPGs, open Compress Image. To change dimensions, open Resize Image. To put an album into one PDF after convert, open Images to PDF. That sibling also names the first-visit HEIC decoder when you drop HEIC straight into a PDF.
For sharing, HEIC to JPG is the path we recommend. A dark HEIC to PNG slug is not linked from the Convert hub.

FAQ
Does converting HEIC upload my photo?
No. Decoding and encoding run in your browser. Your image file is not sent to a NixRey server. On first use the page may download a HEIC decoder so this browser can read HEIC. That download is the decoder, not your photo. There is no account.
Is the decoder a cloud AI model?
No. It is a local HEIC/HEIF reader (bundled WASM / runtime) so the browser can decode the file on your device.
Will the JPG look worse?

Why are my iPhone photos HEIC?
Many iPhones save HEIC by default to store more photos in less space. JPG is the format most older apps and Windows tools still expect.
What about EXIF and GPS?

Privacy note
Convert runs in your browser. The photo is not uploaded. There is no account. A first-visit decoder download is app code, not your photo. Timed delete after an upload is still custody of the camera roll. The privacy page states the same rule.
