Convert a PDF to JPG without uploading it

When you need a slide, a thumbnail, or a photo of a page, open PDF to Image. When you have scans or phone photos that must become one PDF, open Images to PDF. Both run in the browser. The files are not uploaded.

Two directions, two tools

Search often says “PDF to JPG” when the real need is a picture of a page. Sometimes the need is the other way. Phone photos have to become a single PDF for a portal that will not take a zip of JPEGs.

NixRey keeps those as two clear tools instead of one vague converter. PDF to Image for pages out. Images to PDF for pictures in. Both stay on the device. The privacy page states the same rule. There is no account in the way.

Raster pages, not extract images

Upload suites often blur two jobs. One is turning each PDF page into a picture. The other is pulling embedded photos out of a PDF as separate files. Some pages market both in one line.

PDF to Image does the first job only. Each selected page becomes one raster image. Photos already embedded inside a page stay part of that page’s raster. They are not pulled out as separate files. The live FAQ states the same limit.

Named DPI, then a local ZIP

Vague “high quality” does not tell you the resolution. On PDF to Image you choose JPG or PNG, then a named DPI preset.

  • Standard is 72 DPI.
  • High is 144 DPI.
  • Ultra is 216 DPI.

Higher DPI means sharper pages and larger files. When JPG is selected, quality presets Low, Medium, or High appear. PNG is lossless and usually larger.

One selected page downloads as a single image. Two or more selected pages download as a ZIP built on the device. You can drag pages to reorder, rotate a page 90 degrees, and leave unselected pages out of the download. Clear removes the selection. Progress stays honest on large docs, and you can cancel.

Photos to PDF without the upload theater

Many JPG-to-PDF tools process in the cloud, then promise TLS and a one- or two-hour delete. That is still custody of the camera roll or the receipt pack.

Images to PDF builds the PDF in the browser. It accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC. Each photo becomes one page, in queue order. Page setup is A4, Letter, or Fit. There is no orientation menu. A4 and Letter place each photo on that paper size, centered. Fit makes the PDF page match the photo after you rotate it. Use the rotate control on a queue thumbnail when a photo is sideways.

A first visit for HEIC may download a HEIC decoder so this browser can read the file on your device. That download is the decoder, not your photo. Privacy claims should match the Network tab. If this browser still cannot read a HEIC, convert it with Convert HEIC to JPG, then add the JPG here.

What this is not

This is not OCR. Scans do not become selectable text here. This is not PDF to Word. Office conversion is parked for fidelity reasons and is not part of this post. Converting pages to JPG also does not shrink the original PDF. To shrink megabytes, use Compress PDF. After Images to PDF, pages are raster pictures in a PDF, not a vector text layer you can edit like a Word file.

Before and after

A password-protected PDF cannot be converted on PDF to Image. Unlock it first with PDF Password when you know the password, then come back with the unlocked file.

After PDF to Image you can open Compress Image to shrink the exported pictures on this device, or send them into Images to PDF again. After Images to PDF you can download the PDF, open Compress PDF, or go on to Merge PDF or Split PDF.

To check that nothing was uploaded, press F12 and open the network panel while it runs. The page loads its own app code and a worker. On a first HEIC visit you may see the decoder download. Your files are not in that list as uploads.

FAQ

Do my files get uploaded?

No. Both tools run in your browser. Your files are not sent to a NixRey server. There is no account. A first HEIC visit on Images to PDF may download a decoder. That download is the decoder, not your photo.

Does this extract embedded images from a PDF?

No. Each selected page becomes one raster image. Embedded photos inside a page are not pulled out as separate files.

PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG?

JPG uses Low, Medium, or High quality and is often smaller for photo-like pages. PNG is lossless and usually larger, which helps for sharp text screenshots. Pick the format on the page before you convert.

Will every page become its own image?

Only the pages you select. One selected page downloads as a single image. Two or more download as a ZIP built locally. Unselected pages stay out of the download.

Can I turn JPG photos into a PDF here?

Yes. That is Images to PDF, not PDF to Image. HEIC works there too, with the first-visit decoder named on the page.

Is this the same as PDF to Word?

No. This post is about images only. PDF to Word is parked. Accurate layout usually needs a server, which breaks the no-upload rule.

Does converting to JPG compress the PDF?

No. You get image files. To shrink a PDF’s megabytes, use Compress PDF.

What if my PDF is encrypted?

PDF to Image cannot process a password-protected PDF here. Unlock it first on PDF Password, then come back with the unlocked file.
