Frequently Asked Questions

Why do phone photos look sideways in email?

Many phones store Orientation in the photo file. Some email apps ignore that tag and show the raw pixels sideways. Rotate Image bakes the upright pixels so every viewer sees the photo the right way up.

What happens to the corners at a free angle?

Expand is the default. It keeps the whole photo and fills the new corners with white, black, or transparent. Transparent corners save as PNG. Fit crops back to the original frame.

Is Flip Image a different tool?

Yes. Flip Image is a separate page for mirrors only. It uses the same engine. Open it for left to right, top to bottom, or both, with no angle slider.

Can I rotate HEIC from my iPhone?

Yes, when this browser can read HEIC. If it cannot, convert with HEIC to JPG first, then rotate the JPG here. GIF uses the first frame.

Can I rotate many photos at once?

Yes. Add a batch, set one angle and flip, then download one file or a ZIP of every included photo.

Is rotate lossless?

No. The download is a new image file. A free angle resamples the pixels. Even a 90° turn is not a byte-for-byte copy of the original.

Do my photos get uploaded?

No. Rotate runs in your browser. Your photo is not sent to a NixRey server. The page may load normal app/runtime code like any website. That is app/runtime code, not an upload of your image.

Does rotate remove location tags?

No. JPG, PNG, and WebP downloads can still carry location and camera tags. The warning sits at the top of Preview. Remove EXIF Data opens with this photo already loaded. HEIC, GIF, and AVIF do not keep those tags in the new file.
