Frequently Asked Questions

Do my photos get uploaded?

No. Crop runs in your browser. Your photo is not sent to a NixRey server. The page may load normal app/runtime code like any website. That is app/runtime code, not an upload of your image.

How do I crop an image online for free?

Drop or paste a photo. Drag the frame, pick a ratio, or type an exact width and height. Press Crop Image, then download under Preview. Everything stays in your browser.

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Enter width and height, then press Use this size. You can also type X, Y, width, and height, or drag the handles. Arrow keys nudge the frame.

How do I crop to a square?

Press 1:1. The frame stays square while you drag. 4:5, 9:16, and 1.91:1 are there for social frames. Circle crop is a separate tool.

Which ratios are included?

Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, 4:5, 9:16, and 1.91:1. Turn the thirds grid on or off. Apply to all copies the crop frame, ratio, and straighten across the batch.

Can I straighten while I crop?

Yes. The slider turns the cropped photo from 45 degrees left to 45 degrees right on download. The frame on screen stays upright while you drag.

Does the download keep location tags?

JPG, PNG, and WebP downloads can still carry location and camera tags. HEIC, GIF, and AVIF do not keep those tags in the new file. The warning sits at the top of Preview. Remove EXIF Data opens with this photo already loaded. GIF uses the first frame.
