Is my photo uploaded to remove the background?

No. Inference runs in your browser. Your image file is not uploaded for processing. On first use the page may download a model (and related runtime) from a CDN. That download is the model, not your photo.

Is the model cloud AI?

No. It is an on-device cutout / segmentation model loaded into this browser (CDN fetch on first use, including a larger Best model the first time you pick Best). Inference runs locally. It is not a server-side model and not an upload of your image.

How does Keep and Erase refine work?

After the auto cutout, use Keep to paint areas back into the subject. Use Erase to remove leftover background. Zoom in for edges and hair. Compare pauses while you refine so strokes stay accurate.

What are Faster, Balanced, and Best?

These are cutout quality presets. Balanced is the default. Best downloads a larger model, about 168 MB, the first time you use it. Change quality, then press Retry on this image. Changing quality does not run again by itself.

What formats and backgrounds are supported?

Intake includes JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and AVIF. Background choices are Transparent, White, Color, and Image. Image uses your own fill photo from this device. It is not a stock library. PNG and WebP keep a clear background. JPG appears only when the background is filled.

Can I remove backgrounds from a batch?

Yes. Drop several images, or paste on an empty queue. Refine the ones that need it. Download All packs every included file as a ZIP. The ZIP uses the format you picked, not PNG only.

How good is the cutout, and what are the limits?

A clear subject on a simple background works best. Hair, glass, and busy scenes may need Keep or Erase. Use Best, then Retry, for hard edges. Your photo stays on this device.
